Kanzanji (Kanzanji Temple)

Kanzanji (Kanzanji Temple)

The Kanzanji temple is named after the temple in Suzhou, China. When Beiho Taguchi, a calligrapher visited the Kanzanji temple outside of Koso Castle in China in the Meiji era (1885), the Buddha Hotogiri was entrusted to him by the ancestor of the high priest. Once he returned, with the help of Tahei Ozawa they built the Kanzanji temple in the Showa era (1930). The quiet temple that resides on the trail to Mitake Gorge is visited by people who stop at the valley and can be seen ringing the temple bell.
